Wild Wednesday

A series of fronts will bring areas of showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday.  First a warm front will lead to showers late tonight. More showers are likely during the day before a strong cold front may bring severe storms in the evening. Behind the cold front cold air will come into New England on Thursday.

Tonight: Scattered showers late. Low 48.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms. High 70. SW wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH.

Wednesday night: Showers with scattered severe thunderstorms. Lows in the mid 40's. SW wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH. Some storms may produce damaging winds.

Thursday: Mostly sunny and windy. Temps near 50 in the morning will fall to near 40 late. West wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH.

Scattered Showers

Tuesday will be another warm day but it will feature more clouds and a shower. Then more record heat is likely on Wednesday along with a chance for more thunderstorms. Cold air will come back into the area for the end of the week.

Monday will be another warm day along with sunny skies. Some showers are possible on Tuesday as a front comes through. More widespread is likely on Wednesday before we cool off for the end of the week.

MA Weather: An EF1 Tornado hit Western MA on Saturday night with winds of 110 MPH causing minor damage. It is the only tornado to hit MA during the month of Feb. in recorded history!

The Records

Today reached 73 degrees in Boston beating the old record of 70. It was also the highest temp ever recorded in the month of February. Another warm day is likely on Saturday but it will feature a chance of showers by late in the day. Behind the front temps will fall back close to normal on Sunday.

Another warm day is likely on Friday as the cold front stalls to our north. The front  will finally come into the area by late on Saturday leading to rain by the end of the day. Cooler air will come into New England by Sunday.

A weak system will bring a few inches of snow tonight into Saturday morning. Then a powerful storm will effect the area Sunday into Monday. At this point it is a tough call between rain and snow in Boston. However, it would lean towards a snow to rain and back to snow solution with some accumulation possible.
