It now appears that enough cold air will come down from the north to change rain showers to snow showers and sleet on Wednesday night into Thursday morning. At this point only a coating on the grass appears likely in the Boston area. However, by Friday warmer air will finally come into the area. And the weekend looks good at this point also.
Boston forecast:
Tonight: Partial clearing with a low of 37. NE wind of 10-20 MPH.
Wednesday: Scattered rain showers until 4 PM, then rain mixed with sleet and snow. Near steady temps around 37. East wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH.
Wednesday night: A mix of snow, sleet and rain. Lows in the low 30's. NE wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH. Snow and sleet may coat the ground.
Thursday: Any mixed precip ends, then low clouds with mist and drizzle. Still chilly with highs around 40.
Friday: Some showers possible, but warmer. Highs around 60.
Saturday: Sunny with highs in the upper 50's.
Sunday: Sunny with highs in the 50's.
