A major 8.9 magnitude earthquake has hammered Japan earlier today. This massive quake, centered about 70 miles offshore and 250 miles North of Tokyo, also set off a massive Tsunami! Waves over 30 FEET slammed ashore just after the quake, causing homes and cars to be dragged miles inland. Over 300 people have been killed in the city closest to the quake, and more deaths are being reported closer to the capital. Minor damage along with swaying buildings in Tokyo were reported, but they avoided a disaster. The Tsunami raced across the Pacific, leading to additional TSUNAMI WARNINGS in Hawaii. Waves as high as 7 FT hit the Hawaiian islands and caused minor damage right at the beaches. Then, a 8 FT wave hit northern CA, causing docks to be damaged and boats to be torn apart. However, no major damage has been reported along the US west coast so far. Over the last few hours over 100 after shocks have been reported, including one higher than a 7.0. After shocks will continue to affect Japan over the next few days.
