Tropical Depression 16 has formed south of Cuba. It is very disorganized, but is producing heavy rain in the Caribbean islands. The track takes across Florida west of Miami, then making another landfall along the Carolina Coast Thursday as Tropical Storm Nicole. Then, turning north and head up the east coast and come into MA around the Worcester area as a remnant low on Thursday night. On that track the heavy rain would be to the west of the Center at first, but then come east as the storm passes by. 6+ inches of rain are possible from DC to NYC over the next few days. That track would also put the Boston area on the windy side. Some gusts could approach 50 MPH, if it holds together. However, it should clear out for the weekend as a cool blast from Canada comes down.
Boston, MA forecast:
Tonight: Fog and humid with scattered showers. Low 65. South wind of 10-20 MPH.
Wednesday: Fog until 9AM, then partly sunny. Warm and still humid with a high of 80. NW wind of 10-20 MPH.
Wednesday night: Increasing clouds with lows around 60.
Thursday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Heavy rain to the west of Worcester. Humid and windy with highs in the upper 70's. This is subject to change based on the track of Nicole. Wind gusts over 40 MPH possible. Stay tuned!
Friday:Depending on the speed of the remains of Nicole it could be wet and windy. Currently, it looks like the rain will be over by mid morning followed by partial clearing. Highs around 70.
Saturday: Partly sunny and cool. Highs in the low 60's.
Sunday: Partly sunny with highs around 60.
We're already up to N? What's the record of named storms for one year?
ReplyDeleteThe most named storms in one year is 27 in 2005. That was the year of Hurricane Katrina. Before that the record was 21 storms in 1933.
ReplyDeleteWhat will the weather be like when I'm supposed to land at MHT at 5 pm on Friday? Will earlier weather delay the afternoon flights?
ReplyDeleteYes, there could be delays. Although,I think the rain should be over in Southern NH by Friday midday.
