Storm Update

 A powerful storm will bring rain and wind tonight. But, although it will remain windy for Halloween it will be dry. The wind will last into Saturday with some gusts up to 50 MPH. Sunday will be much less windy and both days will have temps in the 50's. 

Alert:

A Wind Advisory is in effect for parts of the area from Friday night into Saturday. 

Boston forecast:

Tonight: Heavy rain with scattered thunderstorms. Near steady temps around 55. East wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH. Total rainfall of 1-3 inches. 

Halloween: Partly to mostly cloudy and windy. High 60. West wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 50 MPH by afternoon. 

Friday night: Dry and windy for Trick or Treat. Temps falling thru the 50's during the evening. And it will be in the mid 40's by dawn.  NW wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 50 MPH. 

Saturday: Sunny and windy. Highs in the mid 50's. Set clocks back 1 hour before bed. ]

Sunday: Sunny and less windy. Highs in the mid 50's. 

Monday: Showers possible. Highs in the 50's.

Tracking Melissa

 Major Hurricane Melissa made landfall today in Jamaica with winds of 185 MPH! It was one of the strongest Hurricanes ever to make landfall! It will now track over Cuba and then the Bahamas before heading to Bermuda as a Category 2 Hurricane. Stay tuned for track updates! As for our weather on Wednesday will be cloudy and cool before rain and wind late Thursday into Thursday night. It should dry out for Halloween, but it will remain windy into the weekend.

Tonight: Mainly cloudy with areas of drizzle and scattered showers Low 45. NE wind of 15-25 MPH. 

Wednesday: Mainly cloudy with areas of drizzle and mist and scattered showers. High 52. NE wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH.

Wednesday night: Mainly cloudy with lows in the mid 40's. NE wind of 15-25 MPH. 

Thursday: Cloudy until 5 PM, then heavy rain. Highs in the upper 50's. East wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH.

The Week Ahead

 Monday and Tuesday will be mainly dry and cool as high pressure temporarily takes control. Then a storm will bring rain and wind to the area by the end of the week. Hopefully, it will dry out by Trick or Treat time. And Hurricane Melisssa is currently a Category 4 Hurricane will slam into Jamaica with feet of rain and life-threatening winds. Are hopes and prayers are with the island nation. After Melissa hits the Caribbean it will threaten Bermuda and head out in the North Atlantic.  As it does so it may throw extra moisture into our storm giving us more rain than otherwise expected. 

Boston forecast: 

Tonight: Clear and cold. Lows near 37 in Boston and 30 in the suburbs. 

Monday: Partly to mostly sunny with a high of 53. North wind of 10-20 MPH.

Monday Night: Increasing clouds with lows in the upper 30's. 

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy with highs in the low 50's. 

Wednesday: Showers possible. Highs in the mid 50's. 

Thursday: Heavy rain and wind likely. Highs in the 50's. Stay tuned!

Weekend Update

 Sunday will feature a mix of sun and clouds and cool temps. Monday and Tuesday look dry before we watch a coastal storm for the middle and end of the week. Plus, Major Hurricane Mellisa looks to head out to sea.

Tonight: Clearing with lows near 42 in Boston and 35 in the suburbs. 

Sunday: Mostly sunny in the morning, then a mix of sun and clouds in the afternoon. High 53. NW wind o of 10-20 MPH.

Monday: Sunny with highs in the low 50's. 

Tuesday:  Sunny with highs in the 50's.

A Cooler Weekend

 Friday will be a mainly sunny day with a passing afternoon sprinkle. The weekend will be dry but  cool and the dry weather will last into early next week. Then we will need to watch the track of Melissa and another low pressure somewhere off the East Coast around the same time. There are many options on the table at this point. Including the potential of the 2 storms combining into one mega storm. However, that seems a bit unlikely at this stage. Stay tuned!

Wet Wednesday

 Another front will cross the area on Wednesday bringing heavy rain in the morning before ending in the afternoon. It will dry out for the end of the week, but it will turn much cooler. And the weekend looks to be chilly and dry as well.

Tonight: Increasing clouds early, then showers with scattered thunderstorms late. Low 55. SE wind of 15-25 MPH. 

Wednesday: Showers with scattered thunderstorms in the morning, then partly sunny with a passing shower in the afternoon. High 65. SE wind of 15-25 MPH, changing to SW in the afternoon. Total rainfall of .25-.5 inches.

A strong cold front will bring downpours, thunder and wind to the area on Monday. IT will dry out for Tuesday before another strong front arrives by Wednesday. Cooler air will come to the region by the end of the week.

Clearing Skies

 Skies will finally clear after a multi -day nor'easter slammed the region with inches of rain and high winds. Wednesday will be sunny with temps in the low 60's, but Thursday will be quite chilly and windy. It should warm up a bit by the weekend.

Forecast Update

 Temps will crash tonight leading to a frost in the city and a hard freeze elsewhere. Friday and Saturday will be dry before a powerful nor'easter impacts the area Sunday into Monday. High winds, coastal flooding and heavy rain all appear probable. The height of the storm appears to be on Monday.

Falling Temps

 A strong cold front will bring rain and falling temps on Wednesday. Temps will continue to drop on Thursday with highs in the 50's. A widespread freeze and frost is likely on Thursday night with most suburbs falling below freezing! And some patchy frost is possible even in JP. Then Friday and Saturday look dry before we watch a nor'easter for Sunday into Monday. Stay tuned!

Tonight: Rain arriving. Breezy and muggy with a low of 65. South wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH. 

Wednesday: Rain with scattered thunderstorms in the morning, then partly sunny in the afternoon. Temps near 68 in the morning will fall to 60 by 5 PM. South wind of 15-25 MPH in the morning, changing to NW in the afternoon.

 High temps on Monday will approach daily records as the warm weather continues. Tuesday will also be warm before a sharp cold front arrives on Wednesday. The front will bring dropping temperatures. gusty winds and rain to the area. Temps will then crash behind the front.

Tonight: Clear with a low of 60. 

Monday: Mostly sunny and very warm. High 85. SW wind of 10-20 MPH. 

Monday night: Clear with lows in the low 60's. 

Tuesday: Mostly sunny in the morning, then increasing clouds in the afternoon. Highs in the low 80's .

Wednesday: Showers and windy. Temps falling thru the 60's. 

Thursday: Clearing and much cooler. Highs in the upper 50's. A widespread frost is likely at night-possibly even in the city. 

Friday: Sunny with highs in the low 60's

Tropics: A storm is expected to form in the Cental Atlantic over the next few days and track near the Caribbean before turning north. We also need to watch a potential storm that may form along the East Coast this weekend. Stay tuned!
