 Arctic air will come into the area behind the storm leading to a cold and windy Monday. Tuesday will also be cold before temps moderate a bit for mid week. A rainstorm is possible late week as temps rise by Friday.

Snow Sunday?

 More wind and cold is expected on Friday along with sunny skies. Clouds will increase on Saturday ahead of our next snow chance. A chance of snow is expected on Sunday, but how much will fall is still unknown. A small shift in the track will make a big difference.

 Behind the rain this evening cold air will come back into the region from Canada along with strong winds. As Thursday and Friday will be cold but dry as High Pressure slowly moves in. Clouds will increase on Saturday ahead of our snow chance by Sunday.

 A front will bring scattered snow overnight with not much accumulation. Then temps on Wednesday will reach the mid 40's allowing for rain to fall in the afternoon. Thursday and Friday will be cold and windy before a chance for more widespread snow this weekend.

 An arctic front crossed the area this evening bringing snow squalls and gusty winds. Now, arctic air will come into the region tonight into Friday. A few snow showers are possible on Saturday as a storm passes to our south. After a dry Sunday more snow is possible by Sunday night.

Tonight: Clearing and frigid. Windy early with lows near 12 in Boston and 7 ABOVE in the suburbs. NW wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 50 MPH early, decreasing to 15-25 MPH late. Wind chill values as low as 7 BELOW late.

 The rain fell throughout the day here in Boston with temps in the mid to upper 30's. Now, colder air will come in behind the storm and change any precipitation to ice and then snow. A small accumulation is possible by the morning. And, any standing water left will freeze overnight and become icy by morning.

SPECIAL:2025-2026 Winter Forecast

 The last few winters have given us very few opportunities for snow. But this Winter I expect to be different. I expect around average snow and cold temperatures. The most snow may fall in the first half of the Winter with maybe an early spring next year. Of course, any major shift in the pattern during the times of storminess could lead to my forecast not being on track.

 Yet another wind event is on the way as low pressure will intensify over us on Wednesday night. But, this time the wind will be more impactful with winds over 60 MPH likely! The height of the wind will be late  Wednesday night, before gradually diminishing during the day on Thursday. I suggest bringing in any holiday decorations you may have outside.

 A powerful storm will bring rain and wind tonight. But, although it will remain windy for Halloween it will be dry. The wind will last into Saturday with some gusts up to 50 MPH. Sunday will be much less windy and both days will have temps in the 50's.

Tracking Melissa

 Major Hurricane Melissa made landfall today in Jamaica with winds of 185 MPH! It was one of the strongest Hurricanes ever to make landfall! It will now track over Cuba and then the Bahamas before heading to Bermuda as a Category 2 Hurricane. Stay tuned for track updates! As for our weather on Wednesday will be cloudy and cool before rain and wind late Thursday into Thursday night. It should dry out for Halloween, but it will remain windy into the weekend.

The Week Ahead

 Monday and Tuesday will be mainly dry and cool as high pressure temporarily takes control. Then a storm will bring rain and wind to the area by the end of the week. Hopefully, it will dry out by Trick or Treat time. And Hurricane Melisssa is currently a Category 4 Hurricane will slam into Jamaica with feet of rain and life-threatening winds. Are hopes and prayers are with the island nation. After Melissa hits the Caribbean it will threaten Bermuda and head out in the North Atlantic.  As it does so it may throw extra moisture into our storm giving us more rain than otherwise expected.

A Cooler Weekend

 Friday will be a mainly sunny day with a passing afternoon sprinkle. The weekend will be dry but  cool and the dry weather will last into early next week. Then we will need to watch the track of Melissa and another low pressure somewhere off the East Coast around the same time. There are many options on the table at this point. Including the potential of the 2 storms combining into one mega storm. However, that seems a bit unlikely at this stage. Stay tuned!

Erin Impacts

 Erin is forecast to come up the coast and pass around 200 to 300 miles SE of Nantucket late Thursday or early Friday. That is close enough to bring some wind and high surf to the region. The highest gusts will be on the Cape and Islands, but even strong winds are likely in Boston. Stay tuned for exact details tomorrow!

Tracking Erin

 Cooler temps will come into the area thru Wednesday as we watch Hurricane Erin come up the coast. At this point it looks to stay far enough east of SNE to just bring some showers and a gusty wind. However, just a small change in the track could change the forecast. And Erin will make its closest pass to the region on Thursday. Stay tuned for more track updates!

Hurricane Erin

Hurricane Erin now has winds of 150 MPH, making a strong Category 4 Hurricane this evening. It is now located near Puerto Rico as it continues to head west. Thel latest track sends it relatively close to the East Coast making a close pass to New England by Thursday as a Major Hurricane. Stay tuned for more track updates as we get closer!

 The heat will continue to build over the next several days. As temps will soar well into the 90's along with some humidity. The hottest days appear to be Tuesday and Wednesday, before a cold front arrives by Thursday with a low chance of storms.

The next few days will be very hot and humid leading to dangerous conditions. The peak of the heat will be on Tuesday as temps could eclipse 100 degrees-even in Boston!  And with high humidity factored in heat index values could be as high as 110!
