 Friday will be the last sunny day for a while as High Pressure briefly comes in. Then several days in a row of rain are likely as an area of low pressure stalls.

Tonight; Clear and cold. Low 23. NW wind of 15-25 MPH. 

Friday; Mostly sunny with a high of 45. SW wind of 10-20 MPH. 

Friday night: Increasing clouds with lows in the low 30's. 

Saturday: Cloudy in the morning, then rain in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 40's. 

Sunday; Periods of showers. Highs around 50.

Monday; Showers likely. Highs in the low 50's.

High Winds

 The powerful front will continue to impact the area tonight. As the front crosses high winds will lead to a dramatic drop in temps and rain will likely change to snow before ending. Thursday will be cold and windy before temps rise again by Friday.

A High Wind Warning is in effect for Western and Central MA  as well as the Cape and Islands 

A Wind Advisory is in effect for the Boston area

Tonight: Rain changes to snow before ending. Very windy with a low of 27. West wind of 25-35 MPH with gusts to 55 MPH. Snow may coat the ground in some areas. 

Thursday; Partly sunny with a passing flurry. High 35. NW wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 45 MPH. Wind chill values as low as 8 ABOVE before 9 AM. 

Thursday night: Clearing with lows around 20. NW wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH. 

Friday; Sunny with highs in the mid 40's. 

Saturday; Rain likely. Highs in the low 50's.

Wild Wednesday

 A strong front will bring rain, high winds and even a little snow Wednesday into Thursday. Showers will start overnight and last  through the day on Wednesday. along with strong winds. Then heavy rain with even a few thunderstorms will arrive  Wednesday evening. as the front approaches. As the front crosses temps will crash at least 20 degrees in just a few hours changing rain over to snow before ending. The strong winds will last through Thursday leading to wind chills in the single numbers.

A Wind Advisory is in effect for the Boston area from 1 PM Wednesday thru Thursday 

A High Wind Warning is in effect for parts of Western  and Central MA as well as the Cape and Islands. 

Boston forecast; 

Tonight: Showers. Near steady temps around 50. SE wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH. 

Wednesday; Showers. High 62. SW wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 50 MPH. 

Wednesday night: Heavy rain with scattered thunderstorms in the evening, then rain and snow late. Very windy with lows in the upper 20's. South wind of 25-35 MPH with gusts to 55 MPH, changing to West late. Total rainfall of 1-2 inches. And snow may coat the ground. 

Thursday; Sunny and very windy. Near steady temps in the low 30's. NW wind of 25-35 MPH with gusts to 55 MPH. Wind chill values as low as 7 ABOVE early. 

Friday; Sunny and less windy. Highs in the upper 40's. 

Saturday; Showers possible. Highs in the mid 50's.

A Powerful Front

 Tuesday will be the calm before the storm  with sunny skies and warm temps. Then a powerful cold front will bring, rain, some snow and damaging winds to the area Wednesday into Wednesday night. The height of the storm will be Wednesday night. Heavy rain and strong south winds will occur ahead of the front. Then as temps drop dramatically in just an hour or 2 behind the front, rain could change to snow. And NW winds behind the front could actually be a bit higher than winds ahead of the front. 

Boston forecast; 

Tonight: Clear with a low of 35. 

Tuesday; Mostly sunny in the morning, then increasing clouds in the afternoon. High 60. SW wind of 15-25 MPH. 

Tuesday night: Showers. Temps holding around 50. South wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH. 

Wednesday; Showers. Highs in the low 60's. South wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 50 MPH. 

Wednesday night: Rain that could change to snow as temps rapidly fall in just an hour or 2. As temps near 60 early will fall into the upper 20's by daybreak. Wind changing to NW at 25-35 MPH with gusts to 55 MPH. Total rainfall of 1-2 inches. And snow could coat the ground before ending.

Friday; Sunny with highs in the mid 30's.

The Week Ahead

 A warm front will lead to very warm conditions over the next few days. As the front crosses the area on Monday morning a rain or snow shower is possible.  Tuesday will be pick of the week with sunny skies and temps approaching 60. Then a powerful front will bring rain and strong winds on Wednesday and Wednesday night. Sharply colder weather is expected behind the front. 

Boston forecast:

Tonight: Increasing clouds with a low of 27. 

Monday; Scattered rain and snow showers until 10 AM, then mostly sunny.  High 52. SW wind increasing to 15-25 MPH.  No snow accumulation expected. 

Monday night: Clear with lows in the low 30's. 

Tuesday: Sunny with highs in the upper 50's. 

Wednesday: Rain and strong winds likely. Highs around 60. Stay tuned! 

Thursday: Rain may change to snow before ending. Windy with temps falling into the 30's late. 

Friday: Clearing with highs in the 40's.

 Tonight will be a frigid night as skies clear out. Sunday will be a nice Winter day with light winds ahead of a warmup next week.  Then a strong cold front will cross the area on Wednesday.

Tonight: Clear and frigid. Low 17. NW wind of 15-25 MPH. Wind chill values as low as 5 ABOVE late. 

Sunday: Mostly sunny with a high of 38. SW wind of 10-20 MPH. Wind chill values as low as 5  ABOVE before 9 AM. 

Sunday night: Scattered rain and snow showers with no accumulation. Lows in the upper 20's. 

Monday;  Any precip ends early, then clearing and turning warmer. Highs in the low 50's. 

Tuesday; Increasing clouds with highs in the mid 50's. 

Wednesday; Rain and strong winds likely. Highs around 60.

Thursday;  Rain may change to snow before ending. Temps near 50 early will crash below freezing during the course of the day. Stay tuned!

Nolan Update- Broken Arm

 I just wanted to give everyone a quick update tonight.  I am OK, but had a fall 2 weeks ago and broke my right arm and have not been able to blog. I will blog as often as I can over the next few weeks.  So here is my forecast for the upcoming week.

Presidents Day; Mostly sunny with a high of 38. NW wind of 12-25 MPH. 

Monday night:  Clear and cold. Lows around 18. 

Tuesday; Sunny in the upper 30's.

Wednesday: Sunny with highs in the low 40's. 

Thursday; Increasing clouds with highs in the 40's. 

Friday; Rain likely. Highs in the 40s.

The Sun Returns!

 The sun will finally return for the weekend along with a cool breeze. The dry weather will last into early next week.

 US Weather: Cleveland, Ohio has now had 7 weeks and counting with no sun! Here in Boston the streak is expected to hit 12 days tomorrow.
