The Week Ahead

Frost is likely tonight with temps dipping into the low 30's across most of the area. Monday will be another dry day with temps near normal. Tuesday, the first of May will be rainy with cooler temps. It should dry out by the end of the week.

More Frost

 A frost advisory has been issued for the city of Boston, with a freeze warning elsewhere. So, cover up or bring in your plants. Sunday will be sunny with a wind again with near normal temps. Most days will be near to above normal.

Freeze Warning

A Freeze warning has been issued for the area as cold winds bring down chilly air. The next few nights will be frosty with Sunny skies during the day.  So, bring in plants you want to save. The storm we are watching will pass well south of the area, bringing precip to the mid Atlantic area.

Near Normal

Some showers are possible this evening as a weak system passes thru the area. Friday will be a dry, but windy day with temps near the normal of 60. On Saturday night we will watch a storm pass to our south, and it may bring more snow in PA and NY. Stay tuned for more updates thru the weekend.

Some Showers

A storm stalled in SE Canada will continue to bring us periods of clouds and rain drops over the next few days. It will also provide a NW flow, keeping any heat to our south.

Wild Night

The storm has arrived finally giving us the rain we need. It will also bring us strong winds late tonight along with the downpours. The rain will taper off by mid morning, and the sun may come out late in the day. After that each day will be similar, with temps closer to normal.

Alerts: A Flood Watch is in effect for the area
A Wind Advisory is in effect south of Boston.

Boston Forecast:

Tonight: Heavy rain. Windy with temps near 45 this evening will rise to 52 by dawn. NE wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH, shifting to SE and increasing to 20-30 MPH with gusts to 45 MPH late. Rainfall of 1-2 inches expected.

Monday: Rain until 10 AM, then partly sunny. Windy with a high of 62. SE wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 45 MPH in the morning, then decreasing to 15-20 MPH in the afternoon. Total rainfall between 1.5-3 inches expected.

Monday night: Partly cloudy with lows in the mid 40's.

Tuesday:Partly sunny with an isolated PM shower. Highs around 60.

Wednesday: Partly sunny again with an isolated shower. Highs in the upper 50's.

Thursday: Sunny with a shower possible. Highs in the 50's

Friday: Rain possible. Highs in the 50's.

US Weather: A major wet snowstorm is expected in western PA and NY with over a FOOT of snow in places.

Flood Watch

The rain should arrive during the afternoon hours on Sunday and last thru Monday morning. The height of the storm will be Sunday night with downpours and strong winds. A few inches of rain is likely, leading to some minor street flooding. But, it should help out with the drought. However, I don't think the game at 8 PM  will be completed.

Boston Forecast:

Tonight: Increasing clouds with isolated showers. Low 55.

Sunday: Scattered showers in the morning, then showers in the afternoon. Temps near 55 in the morning will fall to 48 by 7 PM. NE wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH.

Sunday night: Heavy rain.  Windy with Lows in the mid 40's. NE wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH. 1-2 inches of  additional rain expected.

Monday: Heavy rain until 10 AM, then mostly cloudy. Highs around 60. Total rainfall of 2-3 inches expected. NE wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH.

US Weather: The same storm that will give us the rain will dump 6 inches or more of SNOW in Western NY and PA!

Storm Sunday

A powerful storm will come up the coast and give us the soaking rains we need late Sunday into Monday. But, Saturday should be a mainly dry day before the storm arrives. Heavy rains will total up to 3 inches in spots along with gusty winds. It will be tough for the game at 8PM on Sunday to be played.

Tonight: Low clouds with areas of fog come into the area. Low 53.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy until 10 AM, then partly sunny with scattered showers after 5 PM . High 77. South wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH.

Saturday night: Cloudy with scattered rain showers. Lows around 50.

Sunday: Scattered showers until 3 PM, then heavy rain. Near steady temps in the low 50's. NE wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH.

Sunday night: Heavy rain.  Windy with lows in the 40's. SE wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH. Over an inch of rain is possible.

Monday: Heavy rain in the morning, then scattered shower in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 50's.
Total rainfall of 2-3 inches possible!

Wet Weekend

Friday will be another nice day with sunny skies and temps in the 70's for the 100th birthday of fenway. Clouds will increase late Saturday with a shower or storm possible. The heaviest rain looks to arrive late Sunday. I'm still hopeful that the Red Sox game at 8PM on Sunday will be played.

Friday: Sunny and warmer. High 75. South wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH. GO Red Sox!

Enjoy The Sun

The next few days will be sunny with warming temps into the 70s. On Saturday showers should arrive by dark, then a soaking rain will move in on Sunday. The potential is there for a few inches of rain over a few days.

Marathon TImeline

One of the hottest marathons on record is expected with temps soaring into the mid to upper 80's! Although, it won't be humid and there will be a breeze-it will still be a tough day to run. It will remain above average thru the week with no rain expected.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy with a rain shower possible. Mild with a low of 60.

Marathon Timeliene:

8 AM in Hopkinton: Sunny with a temp of 65. SW wind of 5-10 MPH.

11AM: Sunny with a temp near 82. SW wind of 10-15 MPH.

1 PM: Sunny and breezy. Temp near 85 with SW wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH.

3 PM: Hot with a temp near 88. SW wind gusting to 30 MPH. Good luck to all the runners, and stay cool.

This winter will be remembered for its warmth and lack of snow. Also, a major Halloween nor'easter dumped a foot of snow in some places, but only an inch in Boston. Then, November was warm and the warmth continued into the winter months. And, it was a very dry winter and the major drought continues in the Boston area.

Home Opener

Temps will be in the mid to upper 50's with sunshine for the Red Sox home opener against Tampa at 2 PM. For the weekend temps will soar into the 70's with mainly sunny skies. And, it now looks like temps will soar into the 80's for Marathon Monday.

Last Day

Temps will hold in the mid 50's thru the upcoming Easter weekend. Also, it will be breezy thru the next few days again leading to elevated fire danger. On Easter Sunday clouds will increase, but most of the day should be dry.

Holiday Weekend

After the front came thru this evening, temps will average closer to normal over the next few days. It will remain dry thru at least Saturday. It now appears that on Easter Sunday a storm will back in from the east and give us some late day rain.

Thursday: Opening day for the Red Sox in Detroit. It will be sunny in the low 50's both there and in Boston. NW wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH. Go Sox!

Dry

We are now in moderate drought in the Boston area, as we need soaking rains. However, that is not going to happen any time soon. Temps will go up and down over the next few days, before a warming trend for easter weekend.

US Weather: A series of tornadoes hammered Dallas, TX today causing major damage to the area. Many homes were destroyed and cars were flipped into the air.

Quiet Times

High pressure will continue to dominate the weather over the next several days. Only on Wednesday with a weak front crossing is there a chance of a shower. That is leading to an elevated brush fire threat throughout the area. As, we are about 6 inches below normal in precip since the start of the year.
