Storm Update

Snow fell this afternoon, but it did not stick to the pavement. Temps have risen above freezing, but as the next round comes in late tonight- temps should drop leading to some accumulation. Snow will mix with rain on Thursday cutting back on higher totals near Boston. It may end as snow.

Tonight: Light Mixed wet snow with rain. Temps near 36 this evening will fall to 32 by morning. East wind of 15-20 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH.

7AM-10 AM Thurs : Snow mixed with rain. Temp 35. East wind of 15-20 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH.

10AM-3PM: Light mixed precip. Temp 36.

3PM- 8PM: Another round of steady snow. Temp falling to 30. North wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH.

Snow Update

The light snow has started to fall in most areas this afternoon. Snow will come down steadily for the evening commute. Snow will start to mix with rain and sleet tonight. A mix of rain and snow will continue thru the day on Thursday. However, I am now expecting 3-6 inches thru late Thursday in Boston with 6-10 inches NW of 128.

Storm Timeline

A storm will come in from the west in pieces. While it appears that Boston will not get a lot of snow, it will still be a good storm. Determining the rain/snow line is very difficult with this storm as the warm east winds collide with cold air aloft. So, just a slight shift in conditions will make a big difference in snow totals.

3pm-9 PM: Another band of moderate snow is likely. Temp falling to 34. East wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH.

Complex Forecast

Tuesday will be another above average day with a breeze. Then, a storm will come in from the west on Wednesday with snow arriving by the evening commute. The precip will continue overnight and possibly into Thursday. At this point it seems most of the snow will fall in Northern New England with light precip in the Boston area. However, the track could change-so stay tuned for more updates.

The Week Ahead

Monday will be another warm day with sunny skies and temps nearing 50. Tuesday will also be quiet. Then, a storm will slowly move towards the area on Wednesday and pass close to the area on Thursday. This could mean a long duration snow event. Stay tuned for more details as we get closer.

Wild Winds

A wild day of weather today with snow in some spots in the morning, and thunderstorms in other spots this evening. Now, as the storm intensifies damaging wind gusts will come in behind the storm on Saturday. Temps will be in the 40's with clouds around on Saturday, with more sunshine expected on Sunday.

Tonight: Rain showers with scattered thunderstorms in the evening, then clearing late. Low 32 by morning. Winds increasing to west at 15-25 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH late.

A Mix

A storm will come into New England on Friday leading to a mix changing to rain. In Boston the changeover will be quick cutting back on any snow. Further NW it will take longer, and it will be all snow in the MTS.-great news for ski resorts. A windy, but dry weekend is expected.

Even Colder

Thursday will be another mild day with clearing and temps soaring into the 50's again. Then a powerful storm will ride up the coast for Friday. It now appears that there could be enough cold air for a brief burst of winter precip before a switch to rain. Up here in Plymouth, NH several inches are likely.

Warm Wednesday

Rain showers tonight is the signal for even more warmth ahead. Temps will be way above normal, but with a wind. The next major storm arrives on Friday- and even though it looks colder than yesterday, it will still be a rain storm.

Warm week

Temps will continue to be above average with temps soaring well into the 50's to near 60 by the end of the week. In order to get there though, we will need to go some thru weather systems. A warm front come thru Tuesday night with some rain showers. A bigger storm is likely on Friday.

Vacation Week

Boston schools are off this week, as this winter continues to be way above average. Once again temps will be in the 40's and 50's this week-above average. Two systems will effect the area, one small and one bigger.

Swing And A Miss

A powerful storm will miss the area on Sunday, delivering snow to the DC area. However, some snow will fall Saturday night as a weak system comes thru. Temps will continue to be above normal into next week.

Sunday: Sunny as the storms heads out to sea. Highs around 40.

Likely A Miss

Rain will be off an on overnight into Friday morning, but this is not a major storm. The sun will come out Friday afternoon and temps will rebound to near 50. A weak weather system may give us a period of snow overnight Saturday, but a this point the nor'easter is a miss on Sunday. Stay tuned for any more track shifts.

Just Wet

A weak system will come thru the area Thursday night with some rain showers. Then, skies will clear out with warm temps on Friday into Saturday. We will be watching a major nor'easter on Sunday-at this point a close miss.

Warmth Ahead

Temps will continue to rise well into the 40's over the next couple of days. That means our next storm on Thursday night will be rain in Boston. Also, it will stay warm behind the storm and there is no really cold air in sight.

Well, the storm was another disappointment as it darted south of the area and little snow fell. Now, cold air will come in from the NW an temps will fall to into the teens tonight and 20's on Sunday. Once again, the cold air will be short lived as temps will quickly rise above normal again.

Snow Update

The storm has gone much further south than expected, and the sun has come out this afternoon. An inch or 2 is possible on the Cape, but not much of anything in the Boston area. As, the snow never really got going close to Boston. Stay tuned for a forecast update later tonight.

It now appears that the heaviest snow will fall south of the city. Also temps will be marginal, so it will take some time for it to stick to sidewalks. As cold air comes down from the north it will start to add up on the city streets. Arctic air will come down for Sunday.

Stormy Weekend

Friday will be another warm day with sunny skies and temps 50. Then, an Arctic front and a storm from the west will combine to give us snow on Saturday. Snow Saturday?

A weak system will slide of the area tonight leading to a period of snow on the Cape. A flurry or 2 is possible closer to the city, but most of the precip will miss the area. Thursday and Friday will once again be above normal with highs well into the 40's. A strong arctic front will cross the area on Saturday with snow squalls. Also, a coastal storm will form-but at this point it is a miss.

Storm South

A weak system will pass well south of the area late Wednesday. While most of the precip will go south of the area a few flakes are possible-especially over SE MA. It will once again warm up on Thursday and Friday. Colder air will come in for the weekend and there is a chance of snow.

Too Far South

Tuesday will be another sunny day with temps once again above normal. On Wednesday a weak system will pass south of the area, with the best chance of light snow south of town. Temps will once again rebound for the end of the week.

Earthquake: A magnitude 6.7 quake shook the Philippines today causing damage and killing dozens. Although a major Pacific Tsunami was avoided.

Quiet weather will continue to dominate the weather this week. Temps will go up an down throughout the week with just a chance of a little light snow on Thursday.

Tropics: Amazingly we are watching a cluster of thunderstorms in the Gulf with a chance of development later this week. Hurricane season doesn't start until June, but storms are possible before then.

Storm Free

A few flurries are possible this evening as the NE wind goes over the warmer waters. But, clearing will quickly come in for Friday with temps near normal. Temps near normal will continue thru Super Bowl weekend with more flurries possible on Sunday. But there are no major snostorms in sight.
